“If you have something to say, just say it.”
I like it when people allow me the freedom to say what I’m thinking, and I try to extend the same freedom to them. On the other hand, I don’t want to be like a character in a novel I once listened to in the car. It was said of this woman that whatever thought came into her head went immediately to her mouth. I hope this site will reflect more deliberation, investigation, and grace.
The pages on this site serve different purposes. I chose to self-publish my first books, and quickly learned that self-publishing requires self-promotion. That’s what The Beekeeper’s Daughter and Serves You Right: Loving Those we’d Rather Hate are all about. I had something to say, so I said it. That’s where you can find it.
UpStream is the original name of my blog, and I have kept those posts on that page for posterity. They concern a wide variety of topics, and I will be adding to them as time goes on. Some will be moved to other pages shortly.
The Second Son is a series of observations and comments on the epistle of James which is still in the works (the series, not the epistle). I hope to publish the entire collection as a one-month daily Bible study, but for now, this is where they can be found.
After I lost my first wife, Donna, I wrote a series entitled The Essence of Grieving. That, too, is unfinished. About three quarters of the way through, God brought a wonderful French woman into my life who led me off that rickety bridge from grief to joy. I also hope to complete this series and publish it as a collection. Until then, these posts will be on their own page.
