Summer is here when we start to drink jamaica, the delicious and healthful tea we import from Mexico. I used to buy it by the kilo, and I’m hoping my friends in Mexico will still be willing to bring some out for me. Jamaica is dried hibiscus flowers, and this tea is very popular all over Mexico. We make it much stronger than they do there–in fact, this batch is a bit on the weak side for me–and add some turbinado sugar and lots of fresh lime. Wow. It’s full of vitamin C and antioxidants and helps to lower one’s blood pressure. As they say in Nova Scotia, “You can’t beat it with a stick!”
I’m going to drink this glass right now.
